REVIEW|| Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Powder.

October 11, 2016
Hey, rare beauties!

I know, it’s been a minute. I’m really working on this consistency thing trust me. I’ve been up and about with school and stuff, here’s a little information- I’m in my final year in university (ya!) and it took me quite a while to settle in because I resumed late and I also got a room that needed too many repairs so I basically didn’t have a room for about three weeks, I’m trying to move from blogger to WordPress because I think it’s way better for me and has been stressing me out lately so that’s in the works, I’m also trying to make “rareisbeautiful” look way more legit and just satisfying to my eyes, I took a SOLO trip to Ghana (a post about my trip would be up soon) and I just got back, I’m doing the self-evaluation thing and just giving myself time to figure things out for myself and this blog and just a lot more. I’m sure you guys understand.
Oh well, now that’s out of the way, I have a review for you guys.

This review is way overdue! I received this powder sometime in July/ August courtesy of influence and maybelline (if you follow me on instagram, you must have seen this already) and prior to receiving it, I already read about the release and I was really interested in it for the obvious reasons (oily skin gang, you guys understand right?)
I have tried the clear smooth all-in-one powder by Maybelline, I liked it but that didn’t do too well in the oil control department so I definitely wanted to see what this had to offer.

The Maybelline super stay better skin powder is a compact powder that comes in a glass-white and blue designed package with a flip open lid which has a mirror, it also comes with a flat foam applicator. The packaging is pretty cool if you ask me, it is perfect for traveling as the mirror is generously sized. It is a described to visibly improve the skin and cover all imperfections. It caters to those with acne prone skin as it contains salicylic  acid which helps in achieving overall smoothness of the skin. I was sent the shade-coconut which is a “tinnie-tiny” bit lighter than my original shade but nothing a good amount of blending can’t correct 🙂
Happily, I’ve had a good amount of time to actually use this product so here’s what I think- I like this product but I don’t LOVE it. The powder is dense so all you need a little dab and you’re fine, it applies really smooth, it feels lightweight on the skin and it really impressed me in the  oil control department. It doesn’t look patchy after application and also doesn’t feel too dry on the skin.
No foundation, just powder and you can pretty much see my spots.

Now the downside is, if you have a lot of skin imperfections (which is beautiful by the way), this wouldn’t be your best choice. As someone with a very SPECIAL skin type (read about my acne journey here ), the coverage  didn’t meet my expectations as the coverage is quite sheer.

Overall, the is a good choice just those with oily skin, it gives the sheer but matte coverage and is perfect fr the hot weather here in Nigeria. Among the few powders I own, this has been my go-to powder for the past two months as I prefer it to any other compact powder I’ve tried so I would definitely recommend it.
